Atul Bhatt joins RINL-VSP as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD)

Former CMD of MECON Limited Atul Bhatt has assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) on Monday

New Delhi/ Visakhapatnam: Atul Bhatt has assumed charge as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) on Monday. RINL-VSP is a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel. Prior to this, Bhatt has been serving as the CMD of MECON Limited since October 1, 2016. According to an earlier order from the Personnel Ministry, Bhatt has been appointed as CMD of RINL-VSP for a period with effect the date of his assumption of charge of the post (i.e. Today) till the date of his superannuation i.e. November 30, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Bhatt is an Engineering Graduated from IIT, Delhi in Chemical Engineering and holds a Postgraduate Degree in Management from IIM, Calcutta (1989). Prior to joining MECON, he was Executive Director (Business Development and Corporate Planning) in NMDC and was instrumental in the formulation of Strategic Management Plan 2025 for the company and was responsible for all mergers & acquisition activities of the company.

Bhatt has served in ArcelorMittal as General Manager (Mergers & Acquisition) based in London, UK and also as Country Manager (Iran) based in Tehran, Iran. Bhatt worked in Tata Steel for a number of years, where he started his career as a Graduate Trainee in 1986. 

On his assumption charge of the post, RINL Directors, senior officers, representatives of Steel Executive Association and trade unions extended warm welcome and greetings. Bhatt also greeted the RINL collective on this occasion. He said that the RINL-VSP collective is highly known for its commendable work and team spirit.
