B Veera Reddy gets ACC nod for appointment as Director (Technical) in Coal India

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of B Veera Reddy as Director (Technical) of Coal India Ltd

New Delhi: B Veera Reddy, who is currently serving as Director (Technical) in Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), has been appointed as Director (Technical) in Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Reddy for the post of Director (Technical) of CIL on Thursday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) issued on November 25, Reddy has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post on or after February 1, 2022, till the date of his superannuation, ie August 31, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Reddy is a Mining Engineer and has done MTech in Mining Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has been serving as Director (Technical) of ECL since January 2020. Prior to joining ECL, he was serving as General Manager (GM) of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a government-owned coal mining company, since 1987.

Reddy has more than 32 years of experience in coal mining, planning, procurement and operations. Reddy has rich experience in planning of underground coal mines for mechanisation, planning of ventilation, underground water management, spare parts planning for large mechanised underground mines and management of large underground mines.

As, Director (Technical) of CIL, Reddy will be a member of the Board of Directors of CIL. He will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for the operation of field activities, technical functions and safety of mines.
