BCCL’s Samiran Dutta appointed as Director (Finance) of Coal India

Samiran Dutta, who is currently serving as Director (Finance) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), has been given additional charge as Director (Finance) of Coal India Limited

New Delhi: Bharat Coking Coal Limited's (BCCL) Director (Finance) Samiran Dutta has been given additional charge as Director (Finance) of Coal India Limited (CIL). The Ministry of Coal has assigned him the additional responsibility of Director (Finance) of Coal India in place of Sanjive Soni, who has superannuated from services of the company on June 30. Dutta has been appointed to the post for a period of three months with effect from July 1, 2021, or until further order whichever is earlier. This information has been shared by Coal India in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Thursday.

Further, Coal India has also appointed its CM (Finance) S Ghatak Choudhary as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company with effect from July 1, 2021, till a regular Director (Finance) is appointed in the company. 

Dutta is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He joined the coal industry in August 1988 in Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Dhanbad and then transferred to Coal India Limited, Kolkata, in April 1990 and thereafter served there in different capacities. He was promoted to the post of General Manager (Finance) in January 2018. He took over the charge as Director (Finance) in BCCL with effect from July 18, 2019. In addition, he also took over the additional charge of Director (Finance) in Eastern Coalfields Limited, Sanctoria with effect from August 16, 2019.
