New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises (HI&PE), has won the highest numbers of 'National Safety Awards' at an event held in New Delhi. Among a host of public and private sector companies in the country, BHEL won nine 'National Safety Awards'. These awards were presented to BHEL for its outstanding achievements in terms of the longest accident-free period and lowest accident frequency rate at its units.
The awards were received by BHEL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Dr Nalin Shinghal from Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar at a function held in New Delhi. BHEL has been winning these prestigious national awards, instituted by the Ministry of Labour, consistently, since its inception.
NSA was instituted in the year 1965. NSA is meant to give recognition to good safety performance on the part of industrial establishments and to maintain the morale of both the management and the workers for accident prevention and safety promotion programmes.
