Capt RS Sandhu appointed as Director (Operations) of Air India

Captain Rajwinder Singh Sandhu, who is currently serving as Executive Director in Air India, has been appointed as Director (Operations) of the national carrier

New Delhi: (PSU Appointment) The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Captain Rajwinder Singh Sandhu as Director (Operations) of Air India Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. According to an order issued on July 10, Sandhu has been appointed as Director (Operations) of Air India for a period of three years with effect from the date of his joining, or until disinvestment of Air India, or up to the date of superannuation, or until further orders whichever is earlier. Currently, he is working as Executive Director in the same organisation.

Air India Limited is a government-owned enterprise and operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft serving 102 domestic and international destinations. The airline has its hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, alongside several focus cities across India. Air India is the largest international carrier out of India with an 18.6% market share. Over 60 international destinations are served by Air India across four continents. The airline became the 27th member of Star Alliance on 11 July 2014.
