CMD RINL flags off first rail dispatch of VSP products from CDY

First rail dispatch of RINL-VSP products has been flagged off from recently built VSP's Central Dispatch Yard (CDY) by CMD, RINL

Vizag: Vizag Steel Plant – RINL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) PK Rath has flagged-off the first rail dispatch of various products of Vizag Steel from Central Dispatch Yard (CDY) on Saturday. The rail dispatch has a full rake of 43 wagons comprising approximately 2,500 tons of various products of VSP. The Rail dispatch was executed with the help of Railways. On the occasion RINL's Director (Personnel) KC Das, Director (Commercial) DK Mohanty, Director (Projects) KK Ghosh, Executive Director (Projects) I/c R Nagarajan, Executive Director (Works) Vidyasagar, Executive Director (Marketing) SK Chakrabarty, Executive Directors, senior officials from marketing and plant were present.

Representatives of unions, SEA, SC&ST Association, OBC Association were present. While speaking on the occasion CMD, Rath said that logistics play a vital role in strengthening the marketing network of RINL as the volumes increased due to completion of expansion and modernization of the plant. He said that it is a dream project of RINL and congratulated the projects wing, railways and the agencies involved and commercial wing for early completion of the project. The new yard would facilitate improvement in logistics in a smooth manner at a single location with rake retention time coming down significantly.

Central Dispatch Yard (CDY)

Central Dispatch Yard (CDY) is a unique project of RINL-VSP. It has built at a cost of Rs 320 crore and spared in 200 acre-area inside the plant. CDY had been inaugurated by RINL's CMD in the month of March of this year.

Salient features of CDY

The Yard is equipped with state of the art facilities like unloading area, stacking area, traffic and marketing building. There are four static rail weigh-bridges and road weigh-bridges. The CDY has own signalling systems, loading and dispatch yard with loading platforms with a track length of 3.76 kilometres.
