Cmde Girideep Singh set to be next Director (Strategic Project) of Hindustan Shipyard

New Delhi: Cmde Girideep Singh is set to be the next Director (Strategic Project) of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a PSU under the Ministry of Defence. He has been recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Monday. He is currently serving as a Commodore in the Indian Navy.

Singh has been recommended for the post of Director (Strategic Project) of Hindustan Shipyard from a list of three candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were two candidates including Singh from the Indian Navy and one inhouse from HSL.

The Director (Strategic Project) of HSL, Singh will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to Chairman & Managing Director. He will be responsible for putting in place the necessary infrastructure and preparing for the construction of strategic vessels and for planning and monitoring the construction of small strategic vessels and also conventional submarines. He/ She is also responsible for the Repair or Refit of ships, submarines, merchant vessels and marine structures. He will also be responsible for such other projects as placed in his charge.

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL)

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) is a Miniratna Defence PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence. It is the largest and strategically located shipyard. The yard has built 174 vessels and repaired about 1940 vessels for Defence and Maritime Sector. HSL's design capability embraces a wide spectrum of general and special purpose vessels like the medium size Bulk Carriers of size up to 70,000 DWT, as well as product tankers, container vessels, dredgers, passenger ferries, survey vessels etc.
