New Delhi: State-run Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced that it has temporarily suspended the operations of Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express, starting April 9 until April 30. The decision is part of precautionary measures taken by the Railway PSU, which operates the train, amid a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country over the last few weeks. The news comes barely days after IRCTC announced a temporary suspension of the operations of Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express for a month, starting April 2.

"It is to be informed that due to recent increase in corona cases, IRCTC Lucknow- New Delhi Tejas Express (Train No. 82501-O2l) is being temporarily suspended from 9th April to 30th April 2021," IRCTC said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Wednesday. "The situation is being monitored continuously and action to re-operate the train will be taken accordingly," it added.
