Domestic LPG price hiked again; crosses Rs 1,000-mark in Delhi

  • From today, a 14.2-kg LPG cylinders will be available in Mumbai for Rs 1,003; and in Kolkata for Rs 1,029  

New Delhi: Domestic cooking gas LPG price was on Thursday hiked by Rs 3.50 per cylinder, the second increase in rates this month. Non-subsidised LPG will now cost Rs 1,003 per 14.2-kg cylinder in New Delhi, according to a price notification released by the state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs). The hike comes on the back of a Rs 50 per cylinder increase effected on May 7. Prior to that, prices were increased by the same amount on March 22.

LPG price: Domestic cylinder prices now

From today, a 14.2-kg LPG cylinders will be available in Mumbai for Rs 1,003; and in Kolkata for Rs 1,029; in Chennai, it will cost Rs 1,018.5. The LPG cylinder cost had already crossed the 1,000-mark in several cities, barring the national capital, after the May 7 price hike. However, after today's hike, Delhi too has crossed the mark. Over the last year, the domestic LPG cylinder price in Delhi has gone up to from Rs 809 to Rs 1,003, an increase of nearly Rs 200.

Commercial cylinders get expensive too

A 19-kg LPG cylinder, which is used by commercial establishments, is now being sold for Rs 2,354 in Delhi, Rs 2,454 in Kolkata, Rs 2,306 in Mumbai and Rs 2,507 in Chennai. Earlier this month, the price of commercial LPG cylinders, which are used by hotels and restaurants, was increased. On May 1, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 102.50 to Rs 2,355.50. In the last year, the rate of commercial cylinders has reportedly gone up by Rs 750.
