New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of DS Nanaware to the post of Director (Pipelines) of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Monday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Nanaware has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. June 30, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Executive Director (Pipelines) in the same organisation.
Earlier, PSU Watch had reported when Nanaware was recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on September 22. He was recommended for the post from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.
Nanaware is a Mechanical Engineer having more than 36 years of experience in the construction, operations and maintenance of cross-country oil and gas pipelines. Before this, he was heading Southern region Pipelines of IOCL covering Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. The new Director (Pipelines) has endearing experience in the conceptualization of gas pipelines, offshore functions, operations & maintenance of large tank farms. During his tenure in the gas functions, Indian Oil for the first time ventured into submission of EOI and thereafter participated in the PNGRB bidding process for natural gas pipelines of IndianOil. With the effort of team IOCL led by Nanaware, IOCL was successful in obtaining PNGRB authorization for Ennore-Tuticorin GAS Pipeline. Nanaware also played a pivotal role in the formation of JV companies GIGL and GITL and thereafter led the IOCL group in providing project management consultancy services to GIGL. He has also served as Director on the Board of GIGL and GITL.
As Director (Pipelines) of Indian Oil, Nanaware will be a member of the Board of Directors and reports to the Chairman. He will be in charge of the Pipelines Division to achieve transportation of crude oil and petroleum products in line with the Corporation's plans and objectives. He also will be responsible for revamping existing pipelines besides taking up new pipelines projects.
Further, Indian Oil's Chairman Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, who is also holding the additional charge of Director (Pipelines), will hold the additional charge till Nanaware's appointment to the post. The ACC has also approved the extension of the additional charge of the post Director (Pipelines) of Indian Oil, assigned to Vaidya for a further period of three months with effect from November 1, 2021, or till the appointment of a regular incumbent to the post, or until further order, whichever is earlier, the order further added.
