FACT’s imported MOP shipment for the kharif season reaches Tuticorin Port

New Delhi: Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) a PSU under the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has turned out encouraging performance on the production and marketing front during first five months of the current financial year. FACT's second Muriate of Potash (MOP) shipment (27,000 MT) for the Kharif season has reached Tuticorin Port August 21 and unloading in progress.

MOP along with FACT's prime product Factamfos (NP 20:20:013) is a fertilizer combination preferred by the farmers of South India. Earlier, the company had imported one MoP and one NPK complex parcels during June – July.

It is understood that the company is optimising its operations taking adequate safeguards against COVID-19 pandemic. With reasonably good monsoon encouraging agriculture, Company is taking steps to meet the demand of farmers during the season.

In addition to this, the company is planning to restart Caprolactam operations during the financial year 2020-2021 after completing major maintenance activities and installing online effluent monitoring facilities. Trial run of the plant has been completed.

During the Financial Year 2019-20, FACT touched new height in net profit, production of its prime product Factamfos, Ammonium Sulphate and sale of Fertilizers.

The company was incorporated in 1943 by Maharajah Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma of Travancore Kingdom. The FACT is the first fertiliser manufacturing company in independent India and also the largest Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in the state of Kerala.
