Govt appoints AK Tiwari & Gajendra Singh as Member in PNGRB

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of AK Tiwari and Gajendra Singh for the post of Member in the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB)

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for the appointment of GAIL (India) Limited's Director (Finance) Anjani Kumar Tiwari and former Director (Marketing) of GAIL (India) Limited Gajendra Singh for the post of the Member in the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). According to the Personnel Ministry, they have been appointed to the post for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till attaining the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier. Thus, Tiwari's will be serving on the board of PNGRB for a period of five years and Gajendra will serve for 3.5 years.

Tiwari took over as Director (Finance) GAIL on December 1, 2018. He is a Cost Accountant (CA) by profession. He has a rich experience of over 37 years in the areas of project finance, corporate finance, taxation, treasury, capital budgeting, finalization of EPC contracts etc. He has handled the GAIL's Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline project, popularly known as Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga. Besides serving a long tenure at the GAIL, Tiwari contributed as CFO, Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) during its formative years.

While Singh is former (Director) Marketing of GAIL. He started his career in processing and interpreting seismic data in the upstream industry and possesses 32 years of an illustrious career in the hydrocarbon sector. He has been involved in the execution of several prestigious projects of GAIL starting from the HVJ and has held various leadership and strategic positions. Some of these key roles where he has served as the Head of Department include General Manager (Gas Sourcing and Gas Marketing), Executive Director (Operations & Maintenance).

Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is a statutory body under the MoPNG. It was constituted under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board Act 2006 on March 31, 2006. The board has been mandated to regulate the refining, processing, storage, transportation, distribution, marketing and sale of petroleum, petroleum products and natural gas excluding production of crude oil and natural gas so as and to ensure uninterrupted and adequate supply of petroleum, petroleum products and natural gas in all parts of the country.
