Indian Navy’s V Raja Sekhara Rao set to be CMD of NSC Ltd

PESB has recommended V Raja Sekhara Rao for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of National Seeds Corporation (NSC) Limited on Wednesday

New Delhi: V Raja Sekhara Rao is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of National Seeds Corporation (NSC) Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. He has been recommended for the post by a panel of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Wednesday. He is currently serving in as Director in the Indian Navy's Defence Machinery & Design Establishment (DMDE).

Rao has been recommended for the post of CMD of NSC Ltd from a list of three candidates who were appeared for the interview. Out of them, one candidate was from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and another from Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR). Currently, Vinod Kumar Gaur is serving as CMD of the corporation.

As CMD of NSC Ltd, Rao will be the Chief Executive of the corporation and will be accountable to its Board of Directors and the government. He also will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.

National Seeds Corporation Ltd. (NSC) is Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. NSC was established in March 1963 to undertake the production of foundation and certified seeds. At present, it is undertaking production of certified seeds of nearly 600 varieties of 60 crops consisting of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fiber, fodder, green manure, and vegetables, in its farms and through its registered seed growers.
