MCL breezes past its highest-ever FY21 coal production 35 days ahead of FY22-end

  • In ramping up its production to 148.2 MT as of February 24, MCL has surpassed its entire FY21 output of 148 MT
  • Another subsidiary of CIL, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), has despatched 139 MT of coal as of February 23, eclipsing the total despatch of 138.8 MT of FY21 

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), the Odisha-based coal producing subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has breezed past its highest-ever coal production that it recorded in FY21, 35 days ahead of FY22-end, said a statement on Friday. In ramping up its production to 148.2 MT as of February 24, MCL has surpassed its entire FY21 output of 148 MT. 

"As of the referred date, MCL has surpassed its progressive target of 144.5 MT by 3.7 MT with the achievement being 102.6 percent. Averaging a little over 5 Lakh tonnes per day, MCL is on track to outstrip its annual production target of 163 MT for FY22," said CIL in the statement.

SECL improves coal despatch y-o-y

Another subsidiary of CIL, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), has despatched 139 MT of coal as of February 23, eclipsing the total despatch of 138.8 MT of FY21 with 36 days remaining for FY22 to end. 

"Till February 16 of the ongoing fiscal, CIL has supplied 575 MT of coal, bettering its annual despatch of 574.5 MT of FY21 43 days ahead of the current fiscal's closure. Currently, averaging 2.3 MT of output per day and 2.1 MT in offtake, CIL is comfortably poised to cruise over the previous highs in production and despatch and set a new record in FY22," said the statement.
