New Delhi: National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Fertilizers, has surpassed the productions targets by producing 16.11 Lakh MT of Urea in the first five months of the current financial year (FY2020-21), which is 13 percent higher compared to 14.26 LMT produced during the same period of the previous financial year (FY2019-20), the company said in an official statement on Friday.
According to NFL, the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has recorded total fertilizer sale of 23.81 Lakh MT in April-August, registering a growth of 16 percent when compared to the previous best of 20.57 Lakh MT recorded during the same period in 2019-20.
In the last few years, the company has transformed from a single product to a multi-product company by adding DAP, MoP, SSP & Complex fertilizers, Bentonite Sulphur, Seeds, new strains of Bio-fertilizers and Agrochemicals in its product line.
NFL produces urea at five plants located at Nangal and Bathinda in Punjab, Panipat in Haryana, and two plants at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh (MP). The company has a production capacity of 35.68 lakh MT of urea. The company had also recorded its highest-ever sale in April-July 2020.
NFL is a state-owned producer of chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers and industrial chemicals. Incorporated in 1974, NFL is India's largest Central Public Sector Enterprise in the Fertilizer Sector with a turnover of over Rs 75 billion. Falling under the administrative control of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, it is the second-largest producer of the key fertilizer Urea in India. NFL has five gas-based ammonia-urea plants, viz Nangal and Bathinda in Punjab, Panipat in Haryana and two at Vijaipur (Madhya Pradesh).
