NMDC’s Sanjay Panjiyar set to be Director (Operations) of Hindustan Copper Ltd

Sanjay Panjiyar, who is currently serving as Chief General Manager (Project & Maintenance) of NMDC Limited, has been selected for the post of Director (Operations) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL)

New Delhi: Sanjay Panjiyar is set to be Director (Operations) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL). He has been selected for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. He is currently serving as Chief General Manager in NMDC Limited, a Hyderabad based Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel.

Panjiyar has been selected for the post of Director (Operations) of HCL from a list of four candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. All the three candidates except Panjiyar were from NMDC Limited.

Panjiyar is an Engineering Graduate (B Tech) from Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri. He has served as Assistant General Manager at RINL-VSP, prior to joining NMDC Limited in December 2017.

As Director (Operations) of HCL, Panjiyar will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will head the operations of copper smelting and refining plants. In addition, he will also be in charge of project management and execution of various mine projects with an emphasis on contract administration.

The main objective of the company is exploration, mining, beneficiation of copper ore, smelting and refining and processing of downstream products. The company has copper mines at Malanjkhand in Madhya Pradesh, Khetri (Rajasthan), Ghatsila (Jharkhand). It has smelters at Ghatsila (Jharkhand) and at Jhagadia (Gujarat) and a Continuous Cast Copper Wire Rod plant at Taloja (Maharashtra).
