NP Shukla appointed as an Independent Member (Technical) in CAQM

ACC has approved the proposal for the appointment of NP Shukla as s Full-time Independent Technical Member in the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM)

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for the appointment of NP Shukla as s Full-time Independent Member (Technical)in the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM). According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Shukla has been appointed to the post for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until attaining the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.

Shukla is former Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB). The decision to appoint Shukla as a Member of CAQM comes at a time when Delhi NCR has been suffering from severe air pollution for the last one month.

In the recent development, CAQM constituted task forces for each of the National Capital Region (NCR) states Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi to prevent air quality from further deterioration. These task forces will implement, enforce, monitor and report the compliance status of its orders while noting that several cases of non-compliance had been reported in the recent past.
