New Delhi: Dr H Purushotham has been appointed as Chair Professor of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Andhra University (AU), a public university located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Prior to his new assignment in AU, he was serving as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) since January 22, 2015. An alumnus of Andhra University and veteran scientist, Dr Purushotham has about 36 years of diverse experience across the innovation value chain in different industry verticals. Prior to joining NRDC, he had served as a scientist in various capacities in various CSIR laboratories of the country. Under his leadership, NRDC got "Best PSU Award."
Dr Purushotham has done Engineering (B Tech) in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University and Master of Technology (M Tech) in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He has also done Doctor of Philosophy (Ph D) in Technology Transfer from Osmania University and an MBA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Dr Purushotham himself was honoured with many awards recognising his leadership skills in bringing sustainable turn around in NRDC. He has authored/ co-authored 65 project reports, five book chapters, one book, published/ presented 85 research papers in various journals and conferences, filed three patents and helped the industry in commercializing more than 200 technologies in different sectors. Dr H Purushotham was honoured with 'Top Rankers Excellence Award 2020' at New Delhi for his dynamic leadership in NRDC.
