New Delhi: State-run NTPC Limited has declared the first part capacity of 22 MW out of 92 MW Kayamkulam floating solar power project in Kerala commercially operational on Friday. "Consequent upon successful commissioning, first part capacity of 22 MW out of 92 MW Kayamkulam Floating Solar PV Project at Kayamkulam, Kerala, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 13:00 Hrs. of 31.03.2022," said NTPC in a regulatory filing on Friday.

KSEB is expected to start purchasing power from the floating solar station at Rs 3.16 per unit soon. An agreement to this effect was signed between KSEB and NTPC a few years ago.

NTPC Ltd has doubled its renewable energy (RE) target for 2032 from 32 GW to 60 GW of solar and wind power.
