Omkar Nath Gyani appointed as Director (Operations) in ONGC Videsh Ltd

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Omkar Nath Gyani to the post of Director (Operations) in ONGC Videsh Limited

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Omkar Nath Gyani to the post of Director (Operations) of ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL), a wholly-owned subsidiary and overseas arm of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Gyani has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till October 31, 2025, i.e. the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Executive Director in ONGC Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Earlier, Gyani was recommended for the post of Director (Operations) of ONGC Videsh by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on November 2, 2021. He was selected from a list of seven candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Gyani is a petroleum Engineer from ISM Dhanbad and joined ONGC in 1987. During 1st one and half-decade, he worked in all the onshore regions and dealt with diverse aspects of reservoir and production management of fields in Karaikal, Rajahmundry, Assam, Ankleshwar and Cambay Assets. Subsequently, he had seven years stint from 2005 in IRS, Ahmedabad where he contributed to IOR schemes, value addition in EOR processes and reservoir simulation studies. Since 2012, he has been a key member of the B&S Asset team and as Area Manager dealt with production and reservoir management of oil & gas fields, implementation of approved development schemes and formulation of development schemes to ensure sustained growth of B&S Asset.
