New Delhi: Omkar Nath Gyani is set to be the next Director (Operations) of ONGC Videsh Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary and overseas arm of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). He has been recommended for the post of Director (Operations) of ONGC Videsh by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. He is currently serving as Executive Director in ONGC Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Gyani has been recommended for the post of Director (Operations) of ONGC Videsh from a list of seven candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. Out of seven candidates, six candidates were from ONGC and one candidate was from Indian Oil.
Gyani is a petroleum Engineer from ISM Dhanbad and joined ONGC in 1987. During 1st one and half-decade, he worked in all the onshore regions and dealt with diverse aspects of reservoir and production management of fields in Karaikal, Rajahmundry, Assam, Ankleshwar and Cambay Assets. Subsequently, he had seven years stint from 2005 in IRS, Ahmedabad where he contributed to IOR schemes, value addition in EOR processes and reservoir simulation studies. From 2012, he has been a key member of the B&S Asset team and as Area Manager dealt with production and reservoir management of oil & gas fields, implementation of approved development schemes and formulation of development schemes to ensure sustained growth of B&S Asset.
As Director (Operations) ONGC Videsh, Gyani will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Managing Director. He will advise the Chairman, the Managing Director and the Board of Directors on all matters relating to the implementation and operation of the projects identified by the board for development and production overseas. He also will be responsible for development and production operations, project management, managing technical and field service, procurement of material and services, contracts, marketing portfolio and risk management.
