PESB recommends Rajeev Kumar Vishnoi for THDC’s CMD post

Rajeev Kumar Vishnoi, who is currently serving as Director (Technical) of THDC Limited, has been recommended for the post of CMD of the company

New Delhi: Rajeev Kumar Vishnoi is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of THDC Limited. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. Currently, he is serving as Director (Technical) in the same organisation since September 1, 2019. Currently, THDC's Director (Personnel) Vijay Goel is holding the additional charge of the CMD post.

Vishnoi has been recommended for the post of CMD of THDC from a list of five candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were a total of two candidates including Vishnoi, who were on the list, were from THDC Limited and one each from NTPC Limited, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd and Repco Home Finance Limited.

Vishnoi is an Engineering Graduate (Civil Engineering) from BITS Pilani. He has more than 30 years of vast and rich experience in the design, engineering and construction of hydro project structures. He has also attained the qualification of MBA, India. He has also undergone Advanced Management Programme in Leading Strategic Change from ASCI, Hyderabad in association with SDA Bacconi School of Management, Italy and a Professional Up-gradation programme in Design and Construction of Hydraulic Structures and Hydropower Constructions from the State University of Moscow, Russia.

He has gained various achievements to his credit while working with the Tehri Project & Koteshwar HEP. He has been handling all technical challenges of engineering, design and construction of unique 1000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant having the high differential head of 90m and technical characteristics at par with international standards. He had conceptualized, articulated and included the widely appreciated Risk Sharing Mechanism in the contract document of the Pipalkoti project with the consistent help of World Bank (WB) Experts.

He has been instrumental in the preparation of DPR of a large multipurpose 2,585 MW Sankosh Hydro Project in Bhutan and intensely interacted with Bhutanese as part of Govt. delegation and made Sankosh project viable through innovative, technical and commercial solutions. He has participated as a member of WB Expert Group to deliberate and constitutes guidelines in respect of EPC v/s Unit Rate contracts at their Headquarters in Washington DC, USA on their invitation. He is currently representing India in International Commission on Large Dams for the Technical Committee on Seismic Safety of Dams.

As the CMD of THDC, Vishnoi will be the chief executive of the corporation and will be accountable to its board of directors and the government. He also will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
