Prabir Kumar Gangopadhyay set to be next Director (P&A) of SCI

Prabir Kumar Gangopadhyay has been recommended for the post of Director (P&A) (Personnel & Administration) of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Wednesday

New Delhi: Prabir Kumar Gangopadhyay is set to be the next Director (P&A) of the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), a public sector head hunter body, panel on Wednesday. Currently, he is serving as General Manager in the same organisation. Currently, SCI's Director (Bulk Carrier & Tankers) Atul Ubale is holding an additional charge as Director (P&A) of SCI.

Gangopadhyay has been recommended for the post of Director (P&A) of SCI from a list of three candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were a total of two candidates including Gangopadhyay from SCI and one candidate was from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

As Director (P&A) of SCI, Gangopadhyay will be a member of the Board of Directors of the company and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). He also will be responsible for maintaining smooth industrial relations, administration and development of human resources of the company.

The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is a Navratna PSU with its headquarters in Mumbai. The company operates and manages vessels that service both national and international lines. The company was established on October 2, 1961, by the amalgamation of Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation. Two more shipping companies, Jayanti Shipping Company and Mogul Lines Limited, were merged with SCI in 1973 and 1986 respectively. SCI started out with 19 vessels.
