Prof Pradeep Kumar Joshi is new Chairman of UPSC

Prof Pradeep Kumar Joshi, who was the chairman of both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commissions, has taken the oath of office and secrecy as Chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

New Delhi: Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi took the oath of the office and Secrecy as Chairman, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Friday. Currently, he is Member of the Commission.  He has been appointed on the post with effect from August 7, till May 12, 2021. With his new assignment, he has succeeded Arvind Saxena who completes his term as UPSC chairman on the same day. The oath ceremony was administered by Arvind Saxena.

Joshi joined the Commission as Member on May 12, 2015. Prior to joining the Commission, he has held the post of Chairman of Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission and Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission. He also served as Director, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA). In his illustrious academic career, Joshi taught more than 28 years at post-graduation level and held many important positions in various policy-making, academic and administrative bodies.

A specialist in the field of Financial Management, Joshi has published and presented research papers in several national and international conferences and seminars.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India's premier central recruiting agency. It is responsible for appointments to and examinations for all India services and group A and group B of Central services. The DoPT is the central personnel agency in India. The agency's charter is granted by Part XIV of the Constitution of India, titled as Services Under the Union and the States. The commission is mandated by the Constitution for appointments to the services of the Union and all Indian services. It is also required to be consulted by the government in matters relating to the appointment, transfer, promotion and disciplinary matters.
