Rahul Mithal set to become next CMD of RITES Ltd

Rahul Mithal, who is currently serving as Director (Projects & Services) of the CONCOR, has been selected for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of RITES Limited

New Delhi: Rahul Mithal is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of RITES Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways. Mithal has been recommended for RITES' CMD post by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. He is currently serving as Director (Projects & Services) of Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR). Presently, Rajeev Mehrotra is serving as CMD of RITES Limited. Mehrotra is going to superannuate on June 30.

Mithal has been recommended for the post of CMD of RITES Limited from the list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. Out of nine candidates, three candidates were from RITES Limited, two candidates from CONCOR and one candidate each from Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL), Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL), Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE) and Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME).

Mithal is from the Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers (SCRA 1985 Batch). He has had a long stint of more than 20 years in various key positions in Indian Railways. He has wide exposure to various aspects of the design and maintenance of rolling stock and handling equipment and has held various key assignments of Operations and Maintenance in the Railways. In the last six years in CONCOR, he has been closely associated with the planning, execution and monitoring of various mega projects and has played a key role in drafting the Strategic Plan: Vision 2020 of the company. He also holds the additional qualification of MBA (Finance) from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK) and a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council (UK).

AS CMD of RITES Limited, Mithal will be the Chief Executive of the corporation and will be accountable to its Board of Directors and the Government. He also will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the Corporation for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
