REC CMD Sanjay Malhotra (IAS) gets additional charge of Director (Tech) post

New Delhi: REC Limited's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Sanjay Malhotra (IAS) has been assigned with the additional responsibility of Director (Technical) post. Ministry of Power in its order dated October 21, has approved the assignment of the additional charge of Director (Technical) of REC Limited to Malhotra. He has been appointed to the post for a period of three months with effect from November 1, 2021, to January 31, 2022, or till the appointment of a regular incumbent or till further orders, whichever is earliest. This information has been shared by the Navratna power PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Monday.

Malhotra is a 1990-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Rajasthan cadre. He has been serving as CMD of REC Limited since November 2020. Prior to joining REC Limited, he was serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Power.

He is an Engineering Graduate in Computer Science (B Tech) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has varied experience spanning almost 31 years in the state & central governments and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in various capacities in sectors including power, finance, taxation, e-governance and mines. As Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Power, he was looking after transmission, distribution, reforms and restructuring, operation and monitoring, national electricity policy, tariff policy, CERC, APTEL, JERCs, etc.

REC Limited, formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, is a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. The company finances and promotes rural electrification projects across India. The company provides loans to the Central and state sector power utilities, State Electricity Boards, Rural Electric Cooperatives, NGOs and private power developers.
