RINL-VSP commissions Coke Oven Battery 5

The principal consultant for the 'Coke Oven Battery 5' project is MECON and the principal contractors are BEC consortium and TATA Projects Limited

New Delhi/Visakhapatnam: RINL-VSP (Vizag Steel Plant) has commissioned another Coke Oven Battery 5 on Tuesday. The battery was commissioned with the first coke pushing done by RINL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) PK Rath in the presence of MECON CMD Atul Bhatt. During this momentous occasion all directors and senior officers of RINL and MECON, trade Union leaders and employees were present. 

This 'Coke Oven Battery 5' project was envisaged with a total cost of about Rs 2,500 crore. The principal consultant for the project is MECON and the principal contractors are BEC consortium and TATA Projects Limited.

With unrelenting efforts of the RINL-VSP collective with its project division at the forefront, the battery could be first-charged with coal on December 21 and all the 67 ovens were charged within 24 hrs which is a unique achievement. The first pushing was completed on Tuesday, marking the commissioning of Coke Oven Battery 5 –  a momentous event for RINL-VSP.
