New Delhi: RINL-Vizag Steel Plant (RINL-VSP) has supplied a major share of TMT requirements for the 'Atal Tunnel,' which is the longest highways tunnel at a height of more than 10,000 ft. The tunnel has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. In a statement, RINL said that it has supplied approximately 8,500 MT of Vizag Steel TMT bars for this tunnel project. "We are proud to be associated with this prestigious tunnel project," it added.

The 9.02-km-long tunnel connects Manali to Lahaul-Spiti valley, ensuring connectivity throughout the year. The valley was earlier cut off for about six months every year due to heavy snowfall. The tunnel reduces the road distance by 46 Kms between Manali and Leh and the time by about 4 to 5 hours.

Congratulating the RINL collective on this proud moment,   RINL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) PK Rath said, "RINL joins the nation in thanking Prime Minister Narendra  Modi on inaugurating this engineering marvel today i.e "Atal Tunnel" which is the longest highway tunnel at a height of more than 10,000 ft. This is another milestone in infrastucturing India by our beloved Prime Minister (sic)."

He also mentioned that RINL takes pride in sharing that it has supplied the highest share of TMT bars for the construction of this marvellous engineering project 'Atal Tunnel' amongst all the steel suppliers.

"Earlier also, RINL has participated in projects of national importance and we assure the nation that RINL will always be at the helm of affairs to make India Aatmanirbhar in its all-steel requirement." He added.
