Rita Hemrajani set to be next Managing Director of NHDC

PESB has recommended the name of Rita Hemrajani for the post of Managing Director (MD) of the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) on Thursday

New Delhi: Rita Hemrajani is set to be the next Managing Director (MD) of the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), a PSU under the Ministry of Textile. She has been recommended for the post by the panel of Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), a head hunter body for PSUs on Thursday. Hemrajani is an Indian Railways Personnel Service (IRPS) officer of 1990-batch. She is currently serving as Chief Personnel Officer in the Indian Railways.

Hemrajani has been recommended for the post of MD, NHDC, from a list of four candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. The other three candidates were from PEC Limited, MSTC LTD, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The post of Managing Director in NHDC is vacant since August 7, 2020. However, Additional Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) Mudita Mishra is currently holding the additional charge of the MD post.

As MD of NHDC, Hemrajani will be the Chief Executive of the Company and will be accountable to its Board of Directors and government/share-holders. She also will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the company, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.

National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDC) is a PSU under the Ministry of Textiles. The PSU was formed in pursuance of the imperative need for a national-level agency to assist the speedy development of the handloom sector. The corporation is coordinating all actions covering the procurement and supply of inputs at reasonable prices, augmenting the marketing efforts of state handloom agencies, and initiating developmental activities for upgrading the technology in the handloom sector and improving productivity.
