Sadashiv Samantaray set to be next Director (Commercial) of NALCO

New Delhi: Sadashiv Samantaray is set to be the next Director (Commercial) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Mines. Samantaray has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Tuesday. He is currently serving as Executive Director (Commercial-Materials) in the same organisation.

Samantaray has been recommended for the post of Director (Commercial) of NALCO from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel on Tuesday afternoon. There were a total of six candidates, including Samantaray, who were from NALCO, while others were from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and Indian Railways Stores Service.

As Director (Commercial) of NALCO, Samantaray will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for overall supervision, coordination and direction of marketing activities for domestic as well as international markets and material management, including logistic activities of the company. He will also be responsible for the formulation of commercial policies and ensuring their implementation.

NALCO is a Navratna PSU, having integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power under the Ministry of Mines. It is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminium-Power complexes in the country, encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations.
