Month-long SAKSHAM 2021 concludes on a positive note at NRL

SAKSHAM 2021, the month-long countrywide mass awareness drive on the theme, ‘Green and Clean Energy’ was successfully concluded on February 16, at NRL

New Delhi: SAKSHAM (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) 2021, the month-long countrywide mass awareness drive on the theme, 'Green and Clean Energy' was successfully concluded on February 16, 2021. The drive is spearheaded by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) for raising awareness about the need for conserving precious Oil and Gas resources.

Into its 4th year, SAKSHAM 2021 was enthusiastically observed across the country including in Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in the period between January 16 and February 15 with a host of activities and events. On an inaugural day, the SAKSHAM pledge was administered to all employees across locations on virtual mode as well as through physical meetings.

Conservation messages by Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and NRL Managing Director SK Barua were shared in all internal communication as well as social media platforms. Barua also shared his views on the importance of conservation in interviews broadcast on All India Radio and Doordarshan. The social media campaign was also launched in NRL social media platforms to drive home the importance of conservation and important events organised on the occasion were live-streamed.

At the Refinery, a series of field-level awareness meetings with focus on energy conservation and efficiency improvement were conducted in field cabins. An intensive unit-wise internal steam leak survey for improvement of the steam network was conducted in the Refinery and the unit with the lowest steam leak was recognised. Also, air and gaseous Nitrogen network leak survey was carried out in the entire Utility and Offsite area. A school awareness program was held in Kalpataru Academy near Numaligarh on February 8 to spread awareness about the importance of oil and gas conservation among students.

Several other programs were organised by the company in the vicinity of the Refinery to include youth, housewives, cooks, maids, drivers, fleet operators etc. to raise awareness on energy conservation. An e-quiz on fuel conservation was also conducted amongst employees and emission check of vehicles were carried out at NRL Township. SAKSHAM 2021 Cyclothon was organized by NRL in Silchar on January 13, 2021, where more than 600 cyclists took part.

SAKSHAM 2021 concluded with the closing ceremony held virtually on February 15, in the presence of Departmental and Functional heads where the importance of conservation and vow to conserve the oil and gas resources was reiterated. Prize winners of various competitions were awarded during the valedictory function.
