SKG Rahate (IAS) to head REC Limited as its CMD

New Delhi: Ministry of Power's Additional Secretary SKG Rahate (IAS) has been given additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. He has been given additional responsibilities for a period of three months with effect from February 22, 2022. Previously, Sanjay Malhotra (IAS) was serving as CMD of REC Limited.

According to an order issued by the Ministry of Power issued on February 22, Rahate will look after the work of CMD of REC Limited with effect from February 22, 2022, in addition to his current responsibilities, for a period of three months or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Accordingly, Rahate has assumed additional responsibility for the post of CMD of REC Ltd with effect from February 22. This information has been shared by REC Limited in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Wednesday.

Rahate is a 1990-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Jharkhand cadre. He is currently posted as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Power. He is looking after the hydro and distribution sector in the Ministry besides other works.

Rahate is an engineering graduate, BE (Instrumentation & Control) from College of Engineering, Pune and has varied experience in various capacities spanning 31 years in the State and Central Government in different sectors including infrastructure and regulatory.

"Rahate is not inter se related to any other Director of the company. Further, as per the declaration given by him, Rahate is not debarred from holding the office of the Director by virtue of any SEBI order or any other such authority," REC further informed.
