T Saminathan gets tenure extension as Director (Commercial) of KIOCL

New Delhi: KIOCL Limited's CMD T Saminathan, who is also holding the additional charge as Director (Commercial) of the company, has been given a tenure extension on his additional charge. "Ministry of Steel has extended the additional charge of the post of Director (Commercial), KIOCL Limited presently assigned to T Saminathan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, KIOCL Limited for a further period of three months with effect from December 7, 2021, to March 6, 2022, or till a regular incumbent joins the post or until further orders, whichever is the earlier," the steel PSU said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Wednesday.

Saminathan is an engineering graduate (Mechanical Engineering) and also completed a post-graduate diploma in Business Management. He has been serving as CMD of KIOCL Limited since September 7. He has three decades of experience in KIOCL Ltd in iron ore mining, beneficiation, palletization and pig iron making since joining in the year 1986 as a Graduate Engineer.

During the initial period, Saminathan served in the Kudremukh mine beneficiation plant and later moved to Corporate Office, Technical Services Department, Bangalore in 1992 and executed projects viz: Crusher III installation, Relocation of Crusher I and installation of additional ball mills.

KIOCL Limited, formerly 'Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited' is a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel of Government of India. KIOCL has its head office and administrative activities in Bangalore. It has a pelletisation plant in Mangalore and had an iron ore mine in Kudremukh (Chikkamagaluru district). The Kudremukh mine, one of the largest iron ore mines in the world, was closed in 2006.
