Vizag Steel launches a new system to digitise processes

The ‘Enterprise Application System’ was launched by RINL’s Executive Director (Works), KV Vidya Sagar, in the presence of senior officials

Visakhapatnam: Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) launched the "Enterprise Application System" SOP-SMP (Standard Operating Procedure – Standard Maintenance Procedure) on Monday. The system was launched by RINL's Executive Director (Works) I/c, KV Vidya Sagar at Technical Training Institute (TTI) of VSP in the presence of GM (IT&ERP), KVSS Rajeswara Rao, AGM (TTI), Anthony and other senior officers from VSP.

What does Enterprise Application System do?

The new system helps in digitising of SOPs and SMPs of all the equipment of all the departments so that these can be tracked and referred online as per the requirement. The application shows the standard operating procedure and standard maintenance procedure of all the equipment in the form of job card and control document, safe working procedure details, isolation procedure details and job procedure details. The application also has the facility of uploading as well as downloading of SOP/SMPs and MIS reports. Users from all the departments can generate SMPs and SOPs on-line. The data gets stored safely in a well-structured manner in centralised database which can be viewed, edited, uploaded and downloaded anytime, anywhere in the plant by anybody having access to it.

Who developed it?

The application has been developed by AP Sahu and VLP Lal of IT&ERP in collaboration with a team from Technical Training Institute of VSP. The system facilitates to maintain softcopy of standard procedures and practices.
