ABB bags order from Cochin Shipyard to supply power and propulsion systems

ABB secures Cochin Shipyard order for electric tug power systems

New Delhi: ABB on Thursday said the company has secured an order from Cochin Shipyard to supply power and propulsion systems for two upcoming electric tugs at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority.

A tug is a vessel used to push and escort large cargo ship and vessels in and out of the port area.

In a statement, ABB said it "has won a contract with Cochin Shipyard to supply power and propulsion systems for two forthcoming electric tugs. Due for delivery to Polestar Maritime in 2027 as part of Phase 1 of India's Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP) the vessels will operate out of JNPA."
