New Delhi: Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices fell by Rs 5 per litre on Wednesday, bringing the retail rate in Delhi to Rs 110/litre, the first rollback since jet-fuel costs surged to record levels following the West Asia crisis

Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) rates were trimmed by Rs 5 per litre on Wednesday after international crude prices softened, industry sources said, marking the first reduction in jet-fuel prices since they spiked amid the West Asia crisis.

The cut brings ATF in Delhi to Rs 110 per litre. Fuel prices vary by city depending on taxes and logistics, so final rates at other airports may differ. The rollback is expected to provide modest relief to airlines, which have faced elevated operating costs since jet-fuel prices climbed to record highs earlier this year.

Jet fuel is one of the highest operating costs for carriers, typically accounting for 20–30% of total expenses. The sudden rise in ATF following geopolitical tensions in West Asia had intensified pressure on airline margins and contributed to fare volatility. While a Rs 5/litre reduction will not fully offset earlier increases, it eases some cost pressure for carriers and could modestly moderate ticket pricing if the decline persists.

Analysts attributed the cut to a combination of easing global crude prices and improving supply dynamics after recent diplomatic developments in West Asia that reduced immediate threat perceptions to oil shipments. Seasonal demand patterns and a softening in refined product spreads also played a role in creating room for price adjustments.
