New Delhi: A six-member Australian water delegation visited India from October 13 to October 17, to explore potential partnerships with Indian industry and government stakeholders in the water sector.
The visit was organised by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) under the Australian Government’s Australia India Business Exchange (AIBX) programme, with support from the Government of South Australia’s Department of State Development. Hon Karlene Maywald, South Australia’s Water Ambassador, accompanied the delegation and shared her experience in water policy and reform.
he visit commenced in Mumbai, where the delegation participated in IFAT India 2025, and later continued to Chennai for meetings with industry leaders and government agencies. The team showcased Australia’s capabilities in AI-driven stormwater management, pipeline condition assessment, hydration wellness technology, rainwater harvesting, and wireless monitoring solutions for the water industry.
Highlighting the visit, Nathan Davis, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Austrade South Asia, said,
“Australia’s arid landscapes and variable weather patterns have driven water management innovation. We are now well placed to bring those innovations to India to strengthen cooperation in water technology, policy, and investment.”
Austrade said sustainable water management remains a shared priority for both countries. Through initiatives like the Australia India Water Centre (AIWC), the two nations are deepening collaboration in research, training, and capacity building in the water sector.
