Major Capacity Expansion – Block-E (15 MTPA)

In an official statement, BCCL said that tendering for its 15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) Block-E project is scheduled to be undertaken within the current financial year. Upon commissioning, the project is expected to enhance BCCL’s overall production by approximately 15 percent. This expansion will significantly strengthen the company’s coking coal portfolio and further consolidate its long-term supply position, particularly in meeting the rising demand from the domestic steel sector.

Operationalisation of Bhojudih Washery (2 MTPA)

In another significant development, BCCL has successfully operationalised the 2 MTPA Bhojudih Washery. The washery is expected to achieve peak capacity within the next two to three weeks. With its commissioning, the company’s washed coal output is projected to rise, resulting in improved realisations and greater value addition.

The operationalisation of the Bhojudih Washery is also expected to support downstream steel manufacturers by ensuring the availability of quality washed coking coal.
