The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 13,037.66 crore, will be implemented by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited (RMRCL), a 50:50 joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan.

The proposed corridor will run from Prahladpura to Todi Mod, comprising 36 stations, and is designed to provide seamless connectivity to key urban and economic hubs, including Sitapura Industrial Area, VKIA, Jaipur Airport, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital and Stadium, Ambabari, and Vidhyadhar Nagar. The project includes underground stations in the airport area and will integrate with the existing Phase-1 corridor through interchanges and feeder systems to ensure a unified metro network.

Currently, the Jaipur Metro Phase-1 corridor—spanning 11.64 km from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar—handles an average daily ridership of around 60,000 passengers. With the commissioning of Phase-2, ridership is expected to increase substantially, boosting the share of public transport and reducing dependence on private vehicles.

The project has undergone multi-level appraisal, including inter-ministerial consultations, Network Planning Group review, and Public Investment Board evaluation. It has demonstrated strong economic viability, with an Economic Internal Rate of Return (EIRR) exceeding the benchmark threshold of 14 percent.

Funding for the project will be structured through equity support from the central and state governments, along with subordinate debt and multilateral financing, in line with the Metro Rail Policy, 2017.

Aligned with Rajasthan’s Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Policy-2025 and national sustainable urban transport goals, the project is targeted for completion by September 2031. Once operational, Jaipur Metro Phase-2 is expected to reduce traffic congestion, lower vehicular emissions, and improve overall connectivity for residents, workers, and tourists, positioning Jaipur as a modern and future-ready urban centre.
