New Delhi: In a move aimed at strengthening India’s coal evacuation and transportation network, Coal India Limited (CIL) and IRCON International Limited have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of rail infrastructure projects for CIL and its subsidiaries.
The MoU has been signed by Coal India's Director (Technical) Achyut Ghatak and IRCON International Limited's Director (Works) Ajit Kumar Mishra in the presence of Coal India Limited's Chairman PM Prasad along with senior officials from both organisations.
Under the terms of the agreement, IRCON International Limited will collaborate with Coal India to conceptualize, plan, design, execute, and provide operations and maintenance services for rail infrastructure projects. The partnership is expected to significantly enhance coal evacuation efficiency, improve logistics, and strengthen connectivity between coalfields and consumption centres.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s vision to modernize coal transportation infrastructure and promote sustainable and cost-effective movement of coal. By leveraging IRCON’s technical expertise in railway engineering and project execution, Coal India aims to accelerate the development of critical rail links essential for meeting the growing energy demand and supporting the country’s economic growth.
