In a filing to the BSE, Coal India Ltd (CIL) said, "it has received the commissioning certificate...from Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) for 100 MW capacity Solar Power Plant (in) Gujarat w.e.f. 31.03.2026."

Coal India Ltd, a Maharatna PSU under the coal ministry, has been ramping up its renewable energy portfolio. It accounts for over 80 percent of domestic coal production.

Government auditor CAG had in December pulled up Coal India Ltd for delays in development of the targeted 3,000 MW solar power projects, stating that the coal behemoth and its arms had installed only 122.492 MW of solar capacity by December 2024, which is just 4.08 per cent of the target.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) had also asked Coal India to execute the projects on a fast-track basis to become a Net Zero energy company.
