Coal India signs MoU with NFTDC for technology development in critical minerals

The collaboration between Coal India and NFTDC aims to foster technology development and expertise enhancement in the field of critical minerals

New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) on Tuesday said that it has signed a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Non-Ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC), an autonomous R&D institution under the Ministry of Mines. The agreement was executed on March 15, in Hyderabad. The Coal India has shared this information in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Tuesday.

The collaboration aims to foster technology development and expertise enhancement in the field of critical minerals. This partnership is expected to drive innovation and strengthen India's capabilities in the extraction and processing of essential minerals required for various industrial applications.

This MoU aligns with CIL’s strategic focus on expanding its technological capabilities beyond coal mining and diversifying into critical minerals, which are crucial for sectors such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing.
