New Delhi: In an anti-corruption operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a late-night raid in Bhubaneswar’s Nayapalli area, intercepting an SUV (registration number OD 05 BV 9999) and seizing a substantial sum of cash. The operation, led by a team from the CBI's Delhi office, has brought attention to alleged money laundering involving the central PSU, Bridge and Roof Company, a local newspaper reported.
According to the report, the SUV was under surveillance following intelligence inputs about suspicious monetary transactions. Four individuals are being investigated. The investigation reportedly centres on allegations that a private firm attempted to influence Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited officials, a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
The CBI has extended its probe by conducting searches at eight locations within and outside the state to uncover the money trail and potential links to government officials, the paper further reported. Preliminary findings suggest that the cash was intended to influence officials involved in projects under the purview of the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
This operation underscores the CBI’s commitment to cracking down on corruption and ensuring transparency in projects involving public sector undertakings. The investigation will reveal further details about the alleged nexus between private firms and government officials.
