Deendayal Port Authority swiftly restores operations after Cyclone Biparjoy

The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) swiftly initiated the restoration process of dock operations within less than 24 hours of the impact of the extremely severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy

Kandla: In a remarkable display of efficiency, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) swiftly initiated the restoration process of dock operations within less than 24 hours of the impact of the extremely severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy, said the port authority in a tweet on Saturday. Normalcy was restored in the shore and yard operations of the dry cargo jetties at Kandla Harbour area, with operations resuming at 07:00 hours, it added.

Shipping movement also resumed swiftly

Further, the tweet said that the shipping movement also resumed swiftly, starting at 10:48 hours on the same day at OOT Vadinar. Currently, the berthing of 24 additional ships in the dry and liquid cargo jetties in the Kandla Harbour area, as well as AKBTPL, is underway, further contributing to the resumption of operations.

Review meeting held on June 16

On June 16, SK Mehta, IFS, Chairman DPA, Kandla inspected Port area and took stock of damages after the landfall of severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy. He also said, "No casualities. Port activities will start from Saturday."

Further, during the review meeting held with senior officers, the Chairman instructed all concerned to take immediate action to restore the damages at the Port at Kandla as well as Township at Gopalpuri within two days.

Sonowal appreciates DPA's efforts

Commending the efforts of the DPA, Union Minster for Ports, Shipping and Waterways tweeted on Saturday, "Commendable effort by Team DPA and all Central and State agencies. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India's unstoppable journey is propelled by the never-give-up attitude of our important institutes, undaunted in the face of any storm."
