Director in MoCA tested COVID positive, Ministry & AAI officials quarantined

New Delhi: Ministry of Covil Aviation Director VR Hegde has been tested positive of COVID-19. His test results came on June 18. Last he had attended office on June 15th and briefly on June 7th for important work as reported by persons concerned. During these two days, he came in direct contact with six officials including a joint secretary and a member of AAI board. They all have been quarantined for 14 days as per the guidelines of Ministry of health & family welfare. Two of the six officials are from AAI and rest from the MoCA. Block B of Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan was thoroughly sanitised after the case came in the light.

An office memo issued by MoCA mentioned that the officials of AAI and MoCA who came in contact with Hegde with precautions are at low risk as per the guidelines of MoH&FW on the subject. Accordingly, they are advised to work continue work and monitor their health closely during the period of 14 days from the date of contacts. Incase they develop any of the symptoms of COVID-19 they will get themselves tested for COVID-19 as per ICMR protocol and will keep the office informed.

A couple of weeks back both the blocks of Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan were sealed for deep sanitisation and disinfection after eight cases had come up both in the MoCA and AAI block. According to tp the health ministry's guidelines issued on May 18 AAI had issued guidelines for work from home for most of the employees. "Only those employees whose nature of work demands them to be physically present in the office are being called and rest are attending offices on alternate days" a source working with AAI has said.
