New Delhi: In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance said that the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has successfully raided a clandestine makeshift laboratory involved in the production of Alprazolam, a psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act, 1985. The operation took place in the Nagar Kurnool District of Telangana, resulting in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs.

DRI used specific intelligence to raid the laboratory

Acting on specific intelligence, the DRI conducted a well-planned operation, leading them to a remote poultry farm located on the outskirts of Vattem village in Bijinepally Mandal. The illegal laboratory was discreetly hidden amidst agricultural fields.

Authorities seized a total of 31.42 kgs of Alprazolam

During the raid, authorities seized a total of 31.42 kilograms of Alprazolam in its finished product form. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs in the illicit market is approximately Rs. 3.14 crore, the statement said. Additionally, in-process materials, machinery, and other equipment used in the manufacturing process were also confiscated, it added.

The individual responsible for the illicit production of Alprazolam has been arrested, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal drug trafficking. Further investigations are currently underway to gather additional information and gather evidence related to this operation.
