ECL warns against unauthorised claims of representation in operational matters

ECL urged stakeholders to rely only on official communications issued through its authorised channels and report any instances of unauthorised claims or representations to the appropriate company authorities

New Delhi: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has clarified that it has not authorised any external individual, agency, group or intermediary to represent the company or intervene in its operational and business affairs.

The clarification has been issued by the coal PSU to refute the reports of social media groups circulating lists of individuals claiming to have been authorised by ECL to deal with, mediate or facilitate matters relating to the company's collieries and Area Offices.

ECL said all its operational and business activities are handled strictly through designated officers and established institutional channels in accordance with the company's prescribed rules, procedures and systems.

The coal mining company has also made it clear that it has not appointed any external agents or intermediaries for handling such matters.

ECL advised stakeholders, vendors, contractors and members of the public to exercise caution and not engage with individuals or entities making such unauthorised representations.

The company further stated that it will not be responsible for any financial loss, liability or business transaction arising from dealings undertaken with any person or entity based on such unauthorised claims.
