New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) has emerged as a key force in shaping India’s energy landscape over more than six decades since its inception in 1965, delivering several first-of-its-kind projects across the hydrocarbon, petrochemical and emerging energy segments, while steadily expanding its global footprint.
Over the years, EIL has executed landmark projects in India, beginning with a 200 KTPA lube blending facility for Madras Refinery and extending to world-scale petrochemical complexes and advanced bottom upgradation facilities. Notably, the company recently commissioned the world’s first Resid Upgradation Facility (RUF) based on LC-Max technology at HPCL’s Visakh Refinery. Its portfolio also includes India’s first Propane Dehydrogenation facility, an engineering-intensive LPG cavern project, and the country’s first bamboo feedstock-based biorefinery in Assam, inaugurated recently by the Prime Minister.
Building on its domestic credentials, EIL has established a strong international presence across the Middle East, Africa and other global markets, in line with its vision of becoming a global leader offering total energy solutions for a sustainable future. The successful commissioning and smooth operation of the Dangote Oil Refinery Project in Nigeria—the world’s largest single-train refinery, has reinforced EIL’s role in executing mega overseas projects and advancing India’s ‘Local to Global’ vision.
On the back of sustained performance and client confidence, the Dangote Group has further entrusted EIL with the refinery expansion project and the expansion of the fertilizer complex at the same site, which together constitute the world’s largest refinery and fertilizer complex at a single location in Africa. EIL is also progressing with a greenfield refinery project in Mongolia and a power plant project in Guyana.
In the Middle East, the company has strengthened its strategic foothold by transforming its Abu Dhabi office into a regional hub offering engineering, project management and procurement services across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Recently, EIL also opened a new international office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to tap emerging opportunities.
Supported by disciplined cost management and continuous operational improvements, EIL’s financial performance remains robust. The company currently has an all-time high order book of around Rs 15,000 crore, with a balanced mix of volume-driven turnkey projects and higher-margin consultancy assignments, underlining strong growth visibility.
In addition, EIL has entered into collaborative agreements with several leading global and domestic entities, including ADNOC, NMDC Energy, BP, Aramco Asia India, Indian oil PSUs, NPCIL and Power Grid, as well as premier academic institutions such as the IITs.
The company is also playing a pivotal role in India’s nuclear energy roadmap. Aligned with the Government of India’s Nuclear Energy Mission, EIL is contributing to the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme. It has signed an MoU with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) for engineering services related to the conceptual design and development of the Bharat Small Modular Reactor (BSMR). Simultaneously, EIL is providing design and detailed engineering services for the 220 MW PHWR Bharat Small Reactor and consultancy support for the Atomic Power Project in Rajasthan.
Going forward, EIL aims to reinforce leadership in its core segments, scale up its presence in new energy domains, expand across new geographies, and integrate sustainability into its growth strategy, while maintaining the highest standards of governance and ethics.
