The appointment follows the Expression of Interest (EOI) cum Request for Proposal (RfP) invited by VMMC & SJH from Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) on a Quality and Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) basis. After detailed evaluation, EPI was awarded the project through a Letter of Award issued on August 29.

As the executing agency, EPI will provide end-to-end consultancy services, including preparation of the master plan, preliminary drawings, estimates, detailed project report (DPR), detailed architectural and engineering designs, execution of works, testing and commissioning of facilities, and their maintenance. The scope also covers ensuring quality standards, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.

Commenting on the development, EPI's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) said: “We are honoured to be entrusted with this prestigious project for VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital. The Maternal and Child Care Centre will be a landmark healthcare facility, and EPI is fully committed to delivering it with the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and professionalism. This assignment further strengthens EPI’s legacy of contributing to the nation’s healthcare and institutional infrastructure.”

VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital is one of the largest multi-disciplinary tertiary healthcare institutions in India, catering to millions of patients every year, particularly from economically weaker sections of society. The new MCCC is expected to significantly enhance maternal and child health services at the institution.
