The proposed project will include a 600 MW solar capacity along with a co-located Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 550 MWh, aimed at enhancing grid stability and ensuring efficient energy utilisation.

The total project cost is estimated at Rs 3,294.86 crore, including interest during construction (IDC), taxes, and other associated expenditures. The project will be financed through a mix of debt and equity.

GAIL currently has an existing solar capacity of around 29 MW, operating at full utilisation. The upcoming project is expected to significantly augment the company’s renewable energy portfolio.

The company plans to complete the project within 15 months from the award of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract.

According to the filing, the investment aligns with GAIL’s broader business growth strategy, as it continues to diversify beyond its core natural gas operations and strengthen its presence in the renewable energy segment.
